Figueres & Salvador Dali

We travelled to Figueres on the 29th for a one night stay and to visit the Museao Salvador Dali Theatre.  Then headed back toward Barcelona via Cadaques and visited Dali's home.  I know some extra miles, but we couldn't get the accom. I wanted until the 30th so we did it in a round about way.
Well the Dali museums are definitely worth it, but let me just say - what a brilliant artist yet also one has to ask about his psyche. Jen has said she is sure she has not seen so many penis', testicles, breasts, vagina's and dismembered limbs in one exhibition before.  I am keen to do a google search and read a feminnist analysis of Dali's work.  By the by - his symbolism was also a social commentry on so many aspects of life from social political issues to life and death, immortality and fertility to the influence of consumerism, media and power on the human psyche.  Oh just to name a few.  Of most startling interest is his absolute adoration and love of his wife Gala.  Even in his paintings of her, the sensuality and depth of his love seems to be captured in his brushstroke.  Here is a picture of one of his well known sculptures - Mae West.  Each piece is separate and uniquely an individual piece of art on its own individual merit.

  1. I know, it's fantastic and you can't even imagine it unless you are standing there in the 3D realm - yay to you both
